Gwen Robarts Remembered for Lifelong Passion for Nature and Education as Family Plans Memorial Garden in Freeland, MI

Gwen Robarts passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted in education, nature, and community.

Gwen reunited with their spouse, Henry “Hap” Robarts, who passed away earlier on June 1, 2022.

Together, Gwen and Henry built a life centered on their shared love for the outdoors, nurturing gardens, and inspiring others through their work as biology and science educators.

Family members shared that their home always reflected this passion, filled with vibrant flowers, thriving plants, and spaces that welcomed birds and butterflies.

In a heartfelt tribute, Paul and Helga Robarts announced plans to create a butterfly memorial garden in their honor, describing it as a place that will celebrate both lives and their enduring connection to nature.

Supporters have already begun contributing, with one message expressing, “Your vision for honoring them is truly beautiful and meaningful.”

The family intends to complete the garden by mid-summer 2026 and host a celebration of life surrounded by loved ones.

Gwen’s memory continues to inspire those who knew them, leaving a lasting imprint through both teaching and the natural beauty they cherished.
