Robert French, 79-Year-Old Calistoga Resident, Dies Following Early Morning Bicycle Collision in Napa Valley

Robert French, a 79-year-old resident of Calistoga, passed away on April 11, 2026, after a tragic early morning collision in Napa Valley.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 6:35 a.m. near the intersection of Dunaweal Lane and Silverado Trail.

Investigators shared that French had been cycling east along the north shoulder of Dunaweal Lane before moving across the eastbound lane, where a Ford Mustang traveling in the same direction struck him.

Emergency responders arrived promptly and pronounced French dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

Officials confirmed that the driver remained at the location and cooperated fully with law enforcement during the investigation.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office temporarily closed Dunaweal Lane in both directions as crews examined the scene and gathered details.
