Ru’da Looney, Devoted Parent, Community Contributor, and ALS Fighter, Passes Away on April 10, 2025 in Kansas City, MO
Ru’da Looney passed away on April 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with ALS, leaving behind a grieving family and community in Kansas City, MO.
Family members shared that Ru’da faced years of serious health challenges following a car crash in February 2018, which led to ongoing complications that later resulted in an ALS diagnosis after a cardiac emergency in December 2020.
Despite being given limited time, Ru’da showed remarkable resilience and continued to defy expectations for several years.
In early 2025, hospice care began, and Ru’da spent final months surrounded by loved ones, communicating through small but meaningful gestures even after losing the ability to speak.
Ru’da leaves behind a spouse and nine children, all of whom remember a deeply devoted parent, a passionate advocate for education who founded a PTA, and someone who brought joy through simple interests like puzzles and games.
Supporters expressed heartfelt condolences online, with one donor sharing that the family’s strength is “truly inspiring during such a difficult time.”
The family will announce memorial service details in the coming days.
