19-Year-Old Tabarak Al Najjar Identified After Tragic Discovery in Cal Sag Channel in Alsip, Illinois
Authorities have identified 19-year-old Tabarak Al Najjar of Crestwood as the individual who passed away after being found in the Cal Sag Channel on the afternoon of April 15, 2026.
Emergency crews from the Alsip Fire Department and officers from the Palos Heights Police Department responded around 4:30 p.m. near 131st Street following reports of a person in the water.
First responders located Tabarak Al Najjar and immediately began rescue efforts before transporting them to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Despite extensive lifesaving attempts, Tabarak Al Najjar was later pronounced deceased.
Officials have not yet released further details regarding how the incident occurred, and the investigation remains ongoing.
